About The Position

The Teacher, Academic Engagement Math at Stemmers Run Middle School is responsible for collaborating with school administrators and instructional staff to identify the academic needs of students. The role involves developing and delivering appropriate instructional activities, identifying curriculum-based strategies and resources to empower families, and fostering trusting relationships between schools and families to enhance student achievement and improve school climate.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three years of successful K-12 teaching experience.
  • Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • Experience in a Title I school or communities impacted by poverty preferred.
  • Experience with planning and implementing professional development preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate or Advanced Professional License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers direct instruction in secondary and elementary ELA and/or mathematics for small groups of students.
  • Identifies and develops curriculum-based strategies and resources for home use to support classroom learning.
  • Works collaboratively with school administrators and staff to identify academic needs and provide meaningful engagement activities for families.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the School Progress Plan (SPP) for alignment of initiatives and resources.
  • Provides professional development to school personnel regarding parental engagement.
  • Assists parents in understanding academic standards and assessments, and how to monitor their child's progress.
  • Coordinates parental involvement programs with other Federal, State, and local programs.
  • Facilitates family workshops to assist parents in improving their child's academic achievement.
  • Meets with families to communicate academic progress and provide resources.
  • Partners with families and school staff to develop a supportive school culture.
  • Ensures information related to school and parent programs is communicated effectively to families.
  • Provides support for parental involvement activities as requested.
  • Attends staff meetings and performs other duties as assigned.
