The In-Home Based Services (IHBS) Coach, also known as the Therapeutic Behavioral Specialist (TBS Coach), provides one-on-one strength-based behavior modification services to children and youth that have experienced serious emotional disturbances, stressful transitions or life crises, and need additional short-term support services to achieve outcomes specified in their treatment plans. The position may also work closely with the children’s family members or caregivers to assist in implementing new behavioral and positive coping strategies. The TBS Program provides one-to-one mental health services children & youth age 0-21 with serious emotional challenges. TBS helps children & youth as well as their parents, caregivers, foster parents, group home staff and school staff learn new ways of reducing and managing challenging behaviors. Also included are strategies and skills to increase the kinds of behavior that will allow children/youth to be successful in their current environment and reduce or eliminate the need for placement into high levels of out-of-home care or psychiatric hospitalization.
