About The Position

The Bureau of Tuberculosis Control is seeking a TB Educator & Trainer. Under the direction of the Director of Education & Training. The TB Educator Trainer is responsible to provide education on TB and other relevant comorbidities to staff of all levels. The Educator would collaborate with the Health Department clinics to facilitate provider and patient education in the clinics and ensure adequate supply and distribution of provider and patient educational materials in the required languages. They will collaborate with training coordinator in all aspects of the Bureau's efforts to provide education and training for TB staff.

Requirements

  • For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
  • To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:
  • A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above.
  • Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in "1" and "2" above.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and informative TB presentations and medical talks to agency & hospital staff in conjunction with Nurse educator.
  • Design, develop & update training curricula slides and TB educational materials for grand rounds, training & medical talks.
  • Assist in needs assessments of various stakeholders to inform TB training and patient education & outreach resources.
  • Promote TB awareness by collaborating in events organized by internal and external partners.
  • Develop and review educational materials and submit to comms for review.
  • Provide TB education to internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with TB clinics on ensuring patients have linguistically appropriate TB materials.
  • Participate in the design, presentation, curriculum development and coordination of TB trainings.
  • Distribute and maintain adequate supply of appropriate educational materials in the required languages in central office & TB clinics.
  • Conceptualize the development, implementation, dissemination, and evaluation of new and existing educational initiatives.
  • Conduct evaluations & interpret results including writing concise summaries of activities and findings.
  • Manage social media platforms, creating, editing and uploading content across platforms.
  • Support outreach and training as needed.
