About The Position

At GA Telesis, our core business is integrated aviation solutions, and our mission is customer success. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Taxonomy Intern at our headquarters in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to conduct a comprehensive assessment of animal and plant species at our facility. This role will play a critical part in identifying local biodiversity and supporting our environmental compliance and sustainability goals.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field with a focus on taxonomy.
  • Strong knowledge of taxonomic classification systems and species identification.
  • Experience conducting fieldwork, including surveying and data collection.
  • Familiarity with biodiversity databases and tools for species identification.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • A passion for environmental conservation and sustainability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GIS mapping and data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of local flora and fauna at the facility’s location.
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys and observations to identify plant and animal species present at the facility.
  • Record, classify, and document species using taxonomic methodologies and identification guides.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure data aligns with ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of species inventory, including digital and physical documentation.
  • Prepare reports summarizing findings, including potential conservation recommendations.
  • Assist in developing strategies to enhance habitat preservation and biodiversity on-site.
  • Present findings to stakeholders, including management and sustainability teams.
