About The Position

As the Tax Transformation and Automation Senior Manager, you will work with large publicly owned and private companies to evaluate existing processes and challenges across the tax function, make recommendations for improvements, and follow through with tax process design and solution implementation for your clients, across a wide variety of industries – all with the resources, environment and support to help you excel. You will collaborate with team members, practice leadership, and our diverse client base as well as play a key role in team management, project planning and management, delivery, testing, and go-live support of these engagements because together is how we succeed. From day one, you’ll be empowered by managing client expectations and a team of professionals and coordinating day-to-day activities to ensure that projects are on time and within budget, based on the project’s scope, to meet client needs and help you achieve more, confidently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related technical field
  • Certified Public Accountant or other professional designation is required
  • Eight years of public accounting, consulting, or industry experience
  • Experience with tax technical matters, for example: Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740), corporate consolidated returns, partnership returns
  • Experience with tax technology such as Corptax, ONESOURCE, Oracle TRCS, Longview, Bloomberg
  • Experience with data analytics, transformation, and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau
  • Working knowledge of data management and data analytics concepts
  • Strong foundational understanding of tax concepts
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel as needed. Expect up to 40% travel

  • Secondary degree or minor in: Management Information Systems (MIS), computer science, or data analytics is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participating in sales and marketing efforts including speaking engagements, drafting proposals, and attending sales meetings
  • Managing teams and leading several active projects
  • Develop and deliver key project documentation including requirements documents, design documents, and test plans
  • Serve as the Project Manager for third-party tax software implementations (ex: Corptax, ONESOURCE, Oracle TRCS, Longview, Bloomberg) and custom software development projects
  • Work closely with clients to gather feedback on their issues and translate to Grant Thornton service offerings that support their overall tax objectives
  • Team with tax subject matter specialists to bring complete professional expertise to our clients
  • Assist with developing and leading staff to enable them to perform core project activities; supervise several staff resources during long term projects
  • Participate in sales and proposal development meetings; network and develop key relationships both within Grant Thornton and externally
  • Manage a broad range of complex tax technology projects from commencement to completion and a proven track record of delivering projects to a wide range of clients.
