About The Position

James Moore & Co., P.L. is a Top 200 public accounting and business consulting firm located in Florida with offices in Daytona Beach, DeLand, Gainesville, Ocala, and Tallahassee. Our practice includes tax, assurance, accounting & controllership, wealth management, HR solutions, technology solutions, data analytics and business intelligence, and business advisory services. Our diverse industry specializations include start-up technology, healthcare, government, nonprofit, manufacturing, higher education, construction, and real estate. We're searching for an Accounting Supervisor to join our Tax team in our Tallahassee office. This position is responsible for all facets of client engagements, including supervising preparers and directing the day-to-day progress of engagements. This role requires a combination of technical accounting expertise and client relationship management to serve as a liaison between clients and the Firm. The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining high-quality service delivery and developing employees under their supervision. In this role, you will apply appropriate accounting and tax knowledge on workpapers and assignments to ensure accurate and reliable data for clients' needs. You will utilize accounting and tax software to perform routine client data entry, tasks, and documentation. Partnering with team leaders, you will ensure the appropriate amount of work is distributed among the team and the firm as needed. Training and delegating various types of projects to employees while ensuring standards are being met will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients and preparers regarding accounting-related inquiries, issues, and recommendations, validating the accuracy of client-submitted documentation, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and communicating necessary clarifications. Additionally, you will complete complex tax returns accurately and efficiently, contribute to the tax planning and projections process, and perform technical quality control review of workpapers and other engagement items. You will also develop in industries and service lines to grow specialized knowledge and participate in recruiting events as a representative of the department to provide candidates with information about career opportunities. Compliance with regulatory accounting and tax standards, staying abreast of industry updates and best practices, and collaborating across various organizational departments will be essential to executing goals. You will manage the lifecycle of projects, client engagements, business operations, and/or subordinates, ensuring compliance with the Firm's training and continuous education requirements, and meeting the Firm's guidelines for productivity and utilization standards.
