About The Position

Direct Tax Technology (DTT) is seeking a Solutions Partner to bridge business needs and technical solutions for Amazon's global direct tax operations. You'll work directly with 340+ tax professionals to design, build, and deploy automation solutions that transform how they handle Financial Closes, Tax Returns, Forecasting, and Audits. This role combines hands-on development (Python, cloud-based modeling) with customer partnership—you'll spend time understanding tax workflows, prototyping solutions, guiding customers through testing, and iterating based on feedback. Working closely with our PMT and Product Manager, you'll ensure solutions solve immediate business problems while building scalable capabilities for future needs. We need a builder who thrives on customer collaboration, moves fast from requirements to working solutions, and can leverage AI/agents to unlock new automation opportunities. Key job responsibilities Customer-Centric Solution Delivery: - Partner directly with R&C tax teams to understand pain points, design end-to-end solutions, and build automation using DTT's platform (PEX, ModelCloud, DataCloud, Symphony) Hands-On Development: - Write Python code, build tax models, create data pipelines, and deploy solutions—moving from requirements to production rapidly with customer feedback loops Testing & Enablement: - Guide customers through UAT, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and ensure smooth adoption of new capabilities AI/Agent Innovation: - Identify opportunities to apply AI and intelligent agents to tax workflows, prototype solutions, and scale successful experiments (supporting Project Mitchell goals) Product Collaboration: - Work with PMT and PM to refine roadmaps, validate business value, ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable, and balance short-term delivery with long-term platform strategy Technical Mentorship: - Advise tax teams on best practices, help them self-serve when possible, and provide oversight on complex modeling challenges A day in the life Morning: Join a working session with the State Compliance team—they need apportionment logic automated. You sketch the approach, start building the PEX model together. Midday: Demo yesterday's prototype to FRC, gather feedback, adjust the calculation logic. Afternoon: Pair with the PM on roadmap priorities, then help a tax analyst troubleshoot their ModelCloud template. Evening: Experiment with an AI agent that could auto-validate tax adjustments—promising results to share tomorrow. Customer-facing, hands-on, always iterating. About the team Direct Tax Technology (DTT) serves Amazon's Tax Reporting & Compliance organization with specialized automation solutions. Our Solutions Partners work at the intersection of tax expertise and technology, building solutions that have saved 50,000+ hours annually. You'll collaborate with Solutions Developers (who build platform capabilities), tax domain experts, and product leadership. We operate with a "think strategically, act tactically" mindset—delivering immediate value while investing in scalable, long-term capabilities. Our platforms (DataCloud, PEX, Symphony) process billions of records, and we're expanding into AI-powered automation.
