About The Position

As a Tax Principal, you will assume a strategic leadership role, driving the growth and excellence of our tax practice. You will provide visionary guidance, manage high-level client relationships, and shape innovative tax strategies. Your extensive experience in tax advisory, team leadership, and business development will play a pivotal role in elevating our firm's reputation as a premier tax service provider. The role involves developing cutting-edge tax planning strategies, providing visionary insights in tax optimization, risk management, and emerging trends, and overseeing tax return preparation for accuracy and compliance. You will also monitor and manage tax filing deadlines and engagement progress, budgets, and deadlines. The position requires staying abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments, and providing expert guidance on complex tax scenarios. You will foster high-level client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor, leading client meetings, and developing tailored tax strategies. A key aspect is leading, inspiring, and mentoring a team of seasoned tax professionals, encouraging collaboration and growth, and providing continuous learning opportunities. You will also lead process improvement initiatives to enhance tax workflows and quality control, shape the tax practice's strategic vision, and implement innovations. Strategic business development is crucial, involving identifying new opportunities, nurturing client leads, expanding service offerings, and playing a key role in proposal development and client presentations. Collaboration with executive leadership to enhance the firm's market presence is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 8+ years of progressive tax leadership experience in a CPA firm or related professional service environment
  • CPA license
  • Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement
  • Specific positions may require additional industry or specialization certifications
  • Software: CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research

  • Advanced degree (Master's) or additional relevant certifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree for specialty positions

Responsibilities

  • Develop cutting-edge tax planning strategies that leverage industry insights and regulatory expertise
  • Provide visionary insights in areas such as tax optimization, risk management, and emerging tax trends
  • Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standards
  • Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions
  • Manage engagement progress, budgets, and deadlines, making strategic adjustments as required
  • Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments, applying this knowledge to client engagements and internal training initiatives
  • Provide expert guidance on complex tax scenarios, research inquiries, and emerging compliance trends
  • Foster and nurture high-level client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor for complex tax matters
  • Lead client meetings, understand their financial objectives, and develop tailored tax strategies that align with their goals
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of seasoned tax professionals, encouraging a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence
  • Provide guidance, continuous learning opportunities, and support to facilitate the team's professional advancement
