We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Paraprofessional to join our State & Local Tax (SALT) team in Fort Worth. This critical role focuses on monitoring, organizing, and resolving tax notices and requests from various state and local taxing authorities while supporting process improvements and team efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; associate degree preferred
  • Exceptional ability to manage high volumes of documentation with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for professional interaction with government agencies and internal engagement teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks while meeting critical filing and response deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized tax software

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a professional services or administrative tax environment is preferred but not required for highly organized candidates.
  • experience with CCH Axcess or similar systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Notice Management & Resolution: Monitor, track, and organize incoming tax notices and information requests from various state taxing authorities. Research and investigate state tax notices with guidance from the SALT team to arrive at an appropriate, timely resolution.
  • Agency Correspondence: Prepare and draft professional correspondence to resolve discrepancies, respond to inquiries, and address taxpayer notice matters on behalf of clients.
  • Data Organization: Assemble and maintain electronic tax binders and case files, ensuring all documentation is systematically archived and easily accessible for the SALT team.
  • Compliance Support: Assist in gathering financial data to support state audits and compliance projects, ensuring deadlines are met. Populate and update state compliance schedules and trackers.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Prepare periodic status reports on notice resolution progress for internal stakeholders. Identify trends in state tax notices and raise awareness of recurring issues and share knowledge on the resolution of these issues with the rest of the SALT team.
  • Client Liaison: Act as a secondary point of contact for internal clients to clarify information and provide status updates on notice resolutions.
  • General SALT Support: Contribute to team goals by performing additional tasks as needed.
  • Process Efficiency: Identify and recommend enhancements to current tracking systems to increase notice resolution workflow effectiveness.
