United Therapeutics seeks a Tax Manager to support a wide array of federal, state, and international tax compliance and planning. This role will involve managing US federal and state income tax compliance, quarterly estimate processes, and ensuring timely reporting. The Tax Manager will also handle the computation of global tax provisions, manage special tax projects, and oversee compliance related to employee benefits and executive compensation. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to identify opportunities for tax process improvements.

  • Manage US federal and state income tax compliance and quarterly estimate processes.
  • Manage the computation of the global tax provision for income taxes pursuant to ASC 740.
  • Manage a wide array of federal, state, and international tax special projects.
  • Manage foreign income tax provisions for local statutory financial statements.
  • Manage the Company's tax compliance and planning related to employee benefits and executive compensation.
  • Manage fixed asset tax analysis and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the company's operations.
  • Manage all aspects of the Company's global indirect tax compliance and planning.
  • Manage the preparation of documentation to support federal, state, and local tax audits.
  • Monitor and analyze tax regulatory and compliance law changes.
  • Lead direct and indirect reports, supporting training and performance evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities for tax process improvements.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in Finance, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, and Human Resources.
  • Assist with preparing communications and presentations of tax considerations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
  • 8+ years of related tax experience in the field, including state and local income and indirect tax compliance.
  • 5+ years of experience in a large, multi-national corporation or a 'Big 4' accounting firm.
  • 2+ years of experience as a people manager.
  • Experience with researching and documenting tax issues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to change and improve processes.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity using tax research software platforms.
  • Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation or a Juris Doctorate (JD).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience with state and local income tax and indirect planning.
  • Experience with SAP ERP system.
  • Familiarity with complex employee compensation and equity reporting considerations.
  • Experience managing tax fixed assets and fixed asset software.
