About The Position

The Tax Manager will play a key role in managing the company’s direct and indirect tax obligations, including federal income tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and other compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions. This position will work closely with internal finance and accounting teams as well as external advisors to ensure compliance, identify opportunities for process improvement, and support tax planning initiatives in a high-growth, multi-entity environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
  • 4–7 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax, preferably in a multi-state, multi-entity organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance, including sales and use tax and property tax.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and tax accounting principles.
  • Proficient in tax preparation and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, or similar) and tax compliance software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail, dealership, or distribution industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review federal, state, and local income tax returns and related filings.
  • Manage sales and use tax compliance across multiple states, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
  • Oversee property tax filings and assessments, coordinating with local authorities and third-party providers as needed.
  • Maintain compliance calendars and ensure all tax deadlines are met.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Research and analyze tax laws and regulations to identify risks, opportunities, and potential savings.
  • Support tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s overall tax position.
  • Collaborate with accounting leadership on entity structuring, M&A activities, and expansion planning.
  • Enhance and document tax processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support system implementations and integrations related to tax reporting and compliance.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and IT to ensure tax data integrity across systems.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, consultants, and tax authorities during audits or inquiries.
  • Prepare and maintain organized supporting documentation for all filings and transactions.
