Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our dynamic North American Finance organization. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and effective problem solving skills, along with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment. This role oversees the tax function for a group of C corporations within the cybersecurity industry, including planning, organizing, and managing all related activities. The Tax Manager will lead a small team and report directly to the Tax Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; Master’s degree in Taxation is a plus.
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant is required.
  • Understanding of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparations and compliance.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and tax research skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Exceptional skills in accounting and tax preparation with review experience.
  • Ability to multi-task projects of differing priorities.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to take ownership of projects and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with individuals of varying backgrounds and knowledge of taxes.
  • At least 5 years of relevant tax experience in public or corporate tax environment.
  • Proficient use of technology including MS Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Taxation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OneSource tax software and Microsoft Navision general ledger system is a plus.
  • Managed outside tax advisors on outsourced tax projects.
  • Participated in planning and assist with special studies to determine tax implementations.
  • Knowledge of FATCA.
  • Stayed abreast of tax laws changes.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and review quarterly tax provision.
  • Responsible for federal, state and local income tax compliance, including but not limited to forms 5471 & 5472.
  • Oversee the foreign withholding tax compliance, including Forms W-8 and 1042.
  • Manage sales & use tax functions and processes.
  • Review Canadian income tax and GST/HST returns.
  • Review annual FBAR and property tax filings.
  • Approve month end tax journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits.
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks.
  • Supervise staff and manage outside consultants.
  • Participate in planning and assist with special studies to determine tax implementations.
