About The Position

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, innovative professional advisory firm that serves closely held businesses across multiple industries, including automotive retail, construction, manufacturing, and distribution. As a Tax Manager, you will lead complex tax engagements, provide strategic guidance to business owners, and oversee a team of support staff. You will work directly with clients to deliver high-quality tax services, identify opportunities for value-added advisory, and contribute to practice development initiatives. This position offers autonomy, client-facing responsibilities, and the ability to influence the growth and success of both clients and the firm. Ideal candidates are entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and possess deep technical knowledge in accounting and taxation, combined with strong leadership and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience preparing and reviewing corporate and individual income tax returns
  • Active CPA or EA license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong technical knowledge of tax laws, compliance requirements, and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in project management, including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and research
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and professional judgment
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CCH Axcess Tax and Knowledge Coach is preferred
  • Familiarity with the automotive retail industry is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of tax engagements, primarily serving automotive dealership clients, as well as other business sectors
  • Review and provide oversight for federal, state, and multi-state individual and corporate tax returns
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and identifying opportunities for additional services
  • Mentor, train, and develop team members to foster growth and excellence within the department
  • Support practice development, including participation in industry conferences, networking events, and speaking engagements
  • Travel occasionally to industry conferences across the U.S. (typically 3 per year)
