The Tax Manager is responsible for tax compliance, investor tax reporting, preparation of the worldwide quarterly tax provision, and various tax planning and analysis projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s in Taxation a plus)
  • 5+ years of corporate or public accounting tax experience preferably in the insurance or reinsurance industry
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and federal and state tax principles (knowledge of Subchapter L preferred)
  • Proficient with tax software (e.g., Corptax, OneSource, or similar platform), GL accounting systems and Microsoft Office
  • Solid tax research and analysis skills
  • Effective team player with strong organizational and interpersonal skills who is comfortable managing multiple tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Actuarial designation (e.g. FIA, FCAS)
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as actuarial science, finance, science, economics or engineering
  • At least 7 to 10 years prior relevant industry experience with at least 8 years of professional actuarial (P&C) experience and at least 2 years of (re)insurance
  • At least 4 years in a senior position
  • Extensive knowledge of loss reserving, and forecasting techniques
  • Strong knowledge of the latest and most widely accepted and used actuarial reserving techniques for (re)insurance liabilities
  • Experience communicating at the C-Suite and Board level

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review U.S. federal and state income tax returns
  • Assist in the development of the company’s Bermuda corporate income tax compliance processes and policies
  • Prepare and/or review Bermuda corporate income tax returns
  • Collaborate with external service providers in the preparation and review of Capital Partners investor tax reporting (Schedule K-1, Form 5471, and PFIC statements)
  • Assist tax leadership in resolving tax controversy matters
  • Compute and record income tax provision to return true-ups
  • Enhance and maintain tax basis and earnings & profits calculations
  • Prepare and/or review the group consolidated global income tax provision
  • Conduct tax account analysis and reconciliation
  • Perform deferred tax asset realizability analysis and modeling
  • Review US statutory tax provisions under SSAP 101
  • Prepare and assist with tax disclosures for SEC, NAIC and local financial reporting
  • Maintain internal control documentation
  • Interact with internal and external auditors and tax advisors
  • Prepare or review worldwide tax expense forecasts
  • Assist senior tax team members in tax research, tax reform planning and modeling, and research related to business initiatives
  • Effectively use IT systems and applications in the continued automation of tax function processes and computations
