Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; master's degree in taxation preferred
  • Minimum 5-10 years of progressive corporate tax experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of Federal, State, and Local income taxation, including consolidated returns and multi-state compliance & US GAAP
  • Demonstrated experience with ASC 740 (income tax provision), including current and deferred tax calculations and disclosures
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • High level of detail, self-motivation and hands-on approach to problem solving is a must
  • Clear, effective oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead the domestic ASC 740 income tax provision, including annual provision preparation, review, and documentation.
  • Manage the preparation, technical review, and filing of all domestic income tax returns, including the consolidated federal return and applicable state and local filings.
  • Oversee the calculation, review, and submission of Federal, State, and Local estimated tax payments and extension filings.
  • Manage the preparation and filing of sales & use tax, property tax, gross receipts tax, business privilege and mercantile tax and other tax filings
  • Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and other internal stakeholders to obtain accurate and timely data, ensure proper tax adjustment calculations, and develop a thorough understanding of the book accounting treatment of tax-sensitive items.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve tax issues; including responding to tax notices, audits, and inquiries from federal and state taxing authorities.
  • Oversee the timely preparation, review, and distribution of K-1s.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and ongoing mentorship.
  • Coordinate with and manage work performed by external tax advisors.
  • Coordinate and assist with the IRS and state tax examinations, including information gathering, response preparation, and audit resolution.
  • Monitor changes in tax law and assess impacts to the organization; communicate implications and planning opportunities as appropriate.
