About The Position

Tax Manager - Multi-state/Large Corporations - Nashville, TN Who: A CPA with at least five years of public accounting experience and strong technical expertise in large corporate and multi-state taxation. What: Leads corporate and multi-state tax engagements, performs final technical reviews, manages staff workflow, and ensures compliance with evolving tax laws and reporting requirements. When: Full-time position available immediately. Where: Within a confidential professional services firm supporting a diverse corporate client base. Position Overview: The Tax Manager – Corporate & Multi-State oversees complex corporate and multi-state tax filings, provides final technical review, manages staff and engagement workflow, researches advanced tax matters, and contributes to business development while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

  • CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of five years of public accounting experience.
  • Significant experience in large corporate and multi-state taxation.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the initiative to act.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a heavy workload.

Responsibilities

  • Provide final technical review of tax returns and related documents across the client base.
  • Research complex tax issues and present effective recommendations.
  • Stay current on changes in tax law and accounting procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule, and manage client engagements to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Communicate directly with clients to advocate for their best interests.
  • Lead and support staff and supervisors by setting goals, providing resources, and fostering a positive, high-performing work environment.
  • Monitor work quality and team performance.
  • Assign, track, and manage tasks and projects delegated to staff and supervisors.
  • Mentor and develop team members at all levels.
  • Build and nurture internal and external networks to create new business opportunities.
  • Oversee billing, collections, WIP monitoring, aging, and write-downs.
  • Facilitate and participate in internal CPE and training activities.
