The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Tax Examiner. This position ensures compliance with Montana’s motor fuel, alternative fuels, and electric vehicle (EV) charging station tax laws and regulations by conducting secure processing and detailed verification of refund applications and tax returns, and maintaining records. Ensure work is completed in compliance with the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA). Responsible for analyzing system reports, resolving discrepancies, and support both taxpayers and department staff. This position is part of a career ladder with career advancement opportunities.
