We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized professional to support the team in handling tax-related disputes and controversies on behalf of individuals and organizations. The primary role of the Tax Controversy Specialist is to navigate complex tax laws, regulations, and procedures to resolve issues between taxpayers and tax authorities. This position is vital in providing essential support to our Tax Controversy and ERC team, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible representation in their tax matters. As a Tax Controversy Specialist, you will assist in all aspects of IRS projects, including audits, appeals, collection, penalty abatement, and tax resolution. You will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing client data, responding to information requests, and preparing required supporting documents, including related filings. Your role will also involve tracking the statute of limitations, providing technical advice on practice and procedure matters, and communicating regularly with both the IRS and other tax authorities to accurately assess clients' individual and business tax issues. In addition to these responsibilities, you will prepare written correspondence to clients and tax authorities, manage case files in a productive, efficient, and organized manner, and investigate and diagnose clients' individual and/or business tax issues. Mentoring and training team members will also be part of your duties, along with performing other tasks as needed and assigned.
