About The Position

As the Tax Chief of Staff, you will help lead and enable the overall effectiveness of Cherry Bekaert's Tax service line by supporting strategy, operations, resource management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role combines leadership, collaboration, and operational oversight in a fast-paced professional services environment.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field
  • 12+ years of management experience in accounting, professional services, or related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and operations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility and adaptability when navigating change and ambiguity
  • A creative and innovative approach to generating ideas and solutions

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Tax Managing Partner and senior leaders to define, prioritize, and execute the Tax service line’s strategies, goals, and objectives
  • Oversee service line operations to ensure alignment with vision, mission, values, and firm standards, in collaboration with Finance, Transformation, People & Culture, and Growth teams
  • Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring, professional development, and ongoing performance feedback
  • Coordinate and facilitate Tax leadership meetings, including agenda development, materials, action items, and meeting cadence
  • Support integration efforts for acquired firms in collaboration with other key leaders
  • Improve profitability by driving process standardization, technology initiatives, and effective use of Global Shared Services (GSS)
  • Promote the use of technology and automation to enhance service delivery, execution, and profitability
  • Provide oversight of resource management and support recruiting and workforce planning efforts
  • Partner with Growth leadership to measure and monitor pipeline, growth, and profitability
  • Assist People & Culture with talent acquisition, retention, development, and performance management
  • Manage service line budgets, financials, resources, and assets
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation
  • Exercise exceptional tact and discretion when handling confidential information
