About The Position

A24 is seeking a Tax Associate to work within the Accounting Team and assist with all tax related matters. You will be responsible for liaising with external tax consultants and return preparers to ensure local, state, federal and international tax issues are being handled accurately and efficiently, as well as working with A24's internal team to anticipate any areas of new tax exposure and help ensure A24 is run in a tax-efficient manner. You will also assist in monitoring current and impending changes to tax laws and regulations and help to implement appropriate updates to policies and strategies. Additionally, you will assist in driving efficiencies through continual evaluation of our systems and business processes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of tax reporting and compliance experience with large public accounting firm and/or large public company tax department; Film/TV industry experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
  • US CPA is required
  • Ability to perform independent research and documentation of tax positions
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization, from clerical staff to executives, and manage relationships with external tax advisers and third parties
  • Demonstrated experience implementing technical solutions to manual processes
  • Motivated self-starter skilled in multitasking, time management, and strong organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Humble, diligent and resourceful

Nice To Haves

  • Film/TV industry experience is a plus
  • Experience implementing new systems or sales tax engines (Avalara, Vertex, TaxJar), a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with partnership and corporate taxation from a planning, compliance, and reporting perspective
  • Provide relevant company details to third party preparers of US local, state, federal and international income tax returns and other business tax related filings
  • Assist with the ongoing sales tax compliance process for both physical and digital goods
  • Maintain the tax calendar to ensure timely payments and filings; implement automated tracking solutions in the future
  • Assist with the monthly and quarterly close process through tax-related account reconciliations and analysis, including deferred tax reconciliations and proofs
  • Assist with the tax footnote and other related tax disclosures for the consolidated financial statements
  • Work with various business functions to anticipate, review and manage tax considerations related to topics including: Investment in film accounting and IRC Sections 181, 168(k) Global entity structure analysis, including tax election tracking and formation/dissolution considerations International sales and distribution, including withholding tax analysis of expansion into new foreign markets Marketing, PR and Brand Strategy to identify potential tax exposure from new initiatives Film & TV production, including state, local and foreign tax incentives
  • Compile research and assist in the evaluation of opportunities for tax process improvement and tax efficiency
  • Help to monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments
  • Explore technical solutions for data retrieval, tax form preparation, and compliance checks
