About The Position

The Tax & Accounting Manager will oversee all tax and accounting functions, ensuring projects are completed on time, clients are properly served, and the internal team is supported.

Requirements

• Active CPA license (EA accepted only with significant experience).
• Minimum 5+ years in tax preparation, planning, and accounting for small businesses (S corps, partnerships, individuals, multi-state).
• Strong experience with tax planning and advisory (beyond projections).
• Proven leadership experience managing staff and contractors in a fast-paced, client-centric environment.

• Technical proficiency with accounting/tax tools, project management platforms (e.g., Financial Cents), and willingness to learn/adapt to new technology (including AI-enabled tools).
• Strong communicator, comfortable on camera, capable of building trust with clients remotely.
• Organized, proactive, problem solver with excellent follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting and tax services offered, including monthly bookkeeping, financial reporting, sales tax filings, and client onboard for accounting systems.
• Manage and ensure successful execution of tax season: planning, team readiness, client communications, deadlines, and organizer/checklist distribution.
• Review and sign off on tax returns; oversee and support tax team members.
• Research and resolve state, county, and federal tax notices; manage IRS and state correspondence.
• Run team office hours for CSTs (Client Service Teams); proactively project manage tax season deadlines and recurring work.
• Lead onboarding processes for new clients: ensuring books are set up correctly, workflows are ready, and ongoing work is consistent.
• Implement and maintain audit support and Client Care Package offerings.
• Keep current on tax law changes; train and update internal teams; communicate changes to clients as needed.
• Provide tax planning strategies to clients (reasonable comp, accountable plans, retirement planning, hire-the-kids, multi-state, etc.).
• Lead systemization of tax and accounting processes for repeatability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
