About The Position

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change. Our Tax Accountant supports comprehensive business group tax needs including rate case support, tax provision, tax return preparation and tax planning. Also support SEC, FERC and other regulatory reporting obligations. Participate in the preparation and filing of tax returns for the Eversource system.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal and state statutes and regulations pertaining to income taxes
  • Knowledge of tax laws and requirements pertaining to corporate taxes
  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting theory
  • Strong knowledge of functional accounting practices and procedures
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Ability to apply consistently sound judgment
  • Strong functional understanding of computerized accounting programs
  • Demonstrated skill with MS Office applications (specifically Word and Excel)
  • Ability to multi-task and shift among multiple priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, closely related field or equivalent level of education/experience
  • Three (3) plus years of related accounting experience in transactional tax and/or property tax compliance, preferably in a corporate and/or public accounting environment

Responsibilities

  • Supports comprehensive business group tax needs including rate case support, tax provision, tax return preparation and tax planning.
  • Supports SEC, FERC and other regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Participates in the preparation and filing of tax returns for the Eversource system.
  • Computes, analyzes and allocates tax expenses for both federal and state.
  • Prepares and files tax returns applicable to State Sales and Use, Gross Earnings, Property and Motor Carrier Road Tax.
  • Prepares estimated payments for sales and use taxes.
  • Prepares schedules to be used in the federal tax returns.
  • Assists in the preparation of the federal tax returns.
  • Assists in coordination of the investigational activities for all federal and state tax auditors, regulatory auditors, and outside auditors.
  • Analyzes, as requested, the taxes presented on the corporate books, budgets or forecasts for management, regulatory reports, rate-case presentations or outside inquiries.
  • Provides necessary information and guidance to generate tax expenses for rate cases, budgets, forecasts and the corporate financial model.
  • Aids in maintaining the accuracy of data processing programs dealing with taxes.
