About The Position

The Tax Accountant role within Deloitte's Internal Indirect Tax team is focused on managing and analyzing indirect tax-related financial information. This position involves preparing and filing tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining accurate records. The role supports the overall tax policy for Deloitte US Firms and requires collaboration with various internal teams to enhance processes and technology related to tax management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • One (1) + years of prior experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage assignments based on due dates.

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Eligible for CPA or other relevant certification.
  • Experience in a professional services firm.
  • Understanding of sales/use, VAT/GST, and withholding taxes.
  • Experience with SAP or other financial systems.
  • Experience with sales/use tax software (e.g., OneSource).

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze monthly accounting and financial information pertaining to indirect tax.
  • Assist in the monthly process to prepare and file tax returns and remit any tax due.
  • Review transactional data for accuracy and process necessary adjusting journal entries related to indirect tax accruals.
  • Prepare various analytical analyses to identify issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Assist with the oversight involved in timely filing and paying monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returns for assigned jurisdictions.
  • Prepare check requests for returns and/or initiate EFT payments and corresponding journal entries on a timely basis.
  • Maintain USFT indirect tax files, documenting returns filed and necessary supporting documentation.
  • Maintain tax calendar and respond to correspondence with taxing authorities for assigned jurisdictions.
  • Assist with gathering requested documentation from SAP and other financial systems for indirect tax audits.
  • Manage the exemption certificate process and research taxability of non-routine purchases.
  • Assist team with inquiries from internal customers regarding indirect tax issues and apply necessary changes to OneSource tax engine.
  • Perform periodic tax jurisdiction account and general ledger account reconciliations.
