About The Position

David S. Cutler CPA PC is seeking a part-time or full-time Tax Accountant and Enrolled Agent to join their well-established boutique accounting firm in Tucson, AZ. The role involves managing IRS and state agency audits, preparing various tax returns, and communicating with clients and tax authorities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax and accounting, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible work environment.

Requirements

• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification required.
• 3 years of accounting experience with prior audit and/or tax experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to operate a computer and general office equipment.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills including tact, maturity, and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, manage and respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices.
• Draft response letters to IRS and state notices for signature and approval.
• Communicate with IRS and clients regarding audits, inquiries, and tax notices.
• Prepare individual, partnership, trust, corporate, gift, estate, and non-profit tax returns of varying complexities.
• Review write-up work for tax returns including work papers, adjusting entries, bank reconciliations, payroll, and client books and records.
• Prepare and review financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end estimates, estimated tax, tax planning, and projections.
• Perform accounting/bookkeeping functions when needed.
• Communicate directly with existing clients, in-house firm staff, management, and IRS representatives regarding various tax matters.
