About The Position

Vanguard's Trading Analytics and Strategy (TAS) team works with our global trading desks to optimize their trading strategies, saving millions of dollars for clients every year. The team works with our trader and portfolio manager partners, across asset classes and passive as well as active mandates, to conduct data-driven analyses and build tools to help shape our trading strategy. Vanguard's trading desk trades over $15 trillion annually and is one of the largest market participants in the world. Vanguard manages over $9 trillion of both active and passive Equity and Fixed Income products. The Trading Analytics and Strategy (TAS) team is hiring for a newly created role designed to support our quantitative and trading technology initiatives. This position is ideal for a technically strong candidate with a passion for data, automation, and financial markets. The role will focus on automating reporting and analytical processes, supporting infrastructure and data workflows, and collaborating with both the quant and technology teams. While the primary focus is technical, the candidate will have opportunities to deepen their understanding of trading workflows and transaction cost analysis (TCA).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in technical fields such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of professional experience in a technical or data-focused role (internships or academic projects with relevant scope may be considered).
• Strong technical proficiency in SQL, Python, AWS, Git.
• Experience with Tableau and/or OneTick is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Interest in financial markets and a desire to grow technical expertise in a trading context.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Tableau and/or OneTick.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated reporting pipelines and analytical tools to support TAS initiatives.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity through rigorous testing and validation of code and outputs.
• Translate business needs into technical specifications and implement solutions using SQL, Python, and other relevant technologies.
• Collaborate with the technology team to support infrastructure and data requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies, performing root cause analyses and recommending long-term solutions.
• Continuously improve workflows by integrating new technologies and streamlining processes.
• Begin developing familiarity with TCA concepts and trading desk operations, with the goal of presenting insights to traders and portfolio managers.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to define data requirements and validate deliverables.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
