About The Position

Our goal is to provide students with meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives. This internship offers hands-on experience in systems and process engineering within the semiconductor design and manufacturing flow. The intern will support process optimization, data analysis, and automation initiatives that enhance tapeout efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
  • Must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and be in good academic standing.
  • Fluency in English (written & verbal).
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience.
  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
  • Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning & organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, or Shell).
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor design or manufacturing processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in documenting and analyzing tapeout workflows and process steps.
  • Support development and improvement of automation scripts/tools for data handling and job submission.
  • Collect and analyze process metrics to identify bottlenecks and propose improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and IT.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for tapeout-related issues.
  • Help maintain and update process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
