The Tannery Process Supervisor is responsible for meeting and exceeding production goals set forth by plant management. This role involves managing chemical inventory, overseeing the hair root and subs process, and minimizing downtime through engineering controls. The supervisor will conduct checks on startup, follow up on maintenance, and perform chemical checks. A key focus is on improving employee safety by identifying hazards and troubleshooting solutions. The supervisor will also follow up with daily work orders on drums and conduct daily safety checks. Additionally, the supervisor will proactively look for ways to reduce costs by eliminating excess chemicals and ensuring proper training for chemical handling. The role includes measuring and weighing chemicals accurately, encouraging continuous improvement in operating processes, and fostering team ownership of all processes. Daily meetings with team members and after-shift meetings with the transferring shift are essential. The supervisor will manage hourly employees' timecards and vacation requests, ensuring accurate pay and communication regarding overtime and attendance. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment is crucial, with responsibilities including educating employees on the use of control points, equipment, and resources, conducting monthly safety training, and performing equipment checks as needed. The supervisor will also follow up on R&D tests and participate in product and process development, communicating new processes to team members and approving or rejecting process batches according to technical specifications. Adherence to company guidelines and safety standards is mandatory, and the successful candidate must pass a pulmonary function test to be respirator qualified. Due to the safety sensitivity of the position, random drug screening will be performed.
