The Tanks Civil/Structural Field Engineer at Bechtel Corporation is responsible for overseeing all civil operations within the tanks discipline at the Driftwood LNG project in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This role requires a highly skilled engineer with extensive knowledge of LNG tank construction, ensuring that all construction activities comply with specifications, schedules, and budgets while promoting a strong safety culture.

  • Provide ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to the tank area, including preparation and implementation of safety procedures.
  • Inspect the site for unsafe conditions and practices, taking appropriate action to correct deficiencies.
  • Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work practices in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.
  • Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy, ensuring compliance with safety codes and standards.
  • Monitor craft activities to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Manage cost, schedule, and optimization of craft labor, maintaining construction schedules.
  • Review craft time records using established automated tools.
  • Review and approve subcontractor equipment/personnel mobilization and demobilization.
  • Implement corporate project policies and procedures within assigned tank operations.
  • Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables and coordinate procurement.
  • Assist in performing construction testing as required.
  • Provide input to reports and forecasts, including construction progress and expenditure forecasts.
  • Plan staffing and equipment required to execute the job.
  • Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
  • Coordinate activities with other discipline superintendents and client representatives.
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in heavy industrial concrete installations with strong supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods with an emphasis on LNG tank construction, including ACI-376 full containment tanks.
  • Knowledge of vertical and horizontal post tensioning works, with PTI level 1/2 certification preferred.
  • Experience with full containment LNG tank works and sequence, including internal concrete layers and tank top installation.
  • Knowledge of Lock-Out / Tag-Out requirements.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience.
  • Computer literate in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to work with multi-national employees and across different languages.
  • Spanish speaking skills advantageous.
  • Ability to train less experienced team members and provide mentorship.
