About The Position

The Hydrovac / Tanker CDL Driver plays a critical role in safely operating specialized heavy vehicles to support excavation and tanker transport operations. This position requires the driver to skillfully maneuver hydrovac trucks and tanker vehicles to various job sites, ensuring timely and efficient delivery and removal of materials. The driver is responsible for maintaining vehicle safety and compliance with all Department of Transportation regulations, while also performing routine inspections and minor maintenance tasks. Effective communication with dispatchers, site supervisors, and team members is essential to coordinate schedules and respond to dynamic worksite conditions. Ultimately, this role ensures that excavation and tanker services are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tanker and hydrovac vehicles.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience operating heavy trucks, preferably hydrovac or tanker vehicles.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past three years.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating hydrovac trucks in excavation or utility environments.
  • Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Previous experience working in construction, environmental services, or related industries.
  • Certification in hazardous materials handling or safety training related to tanker operations.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hydrovac and tanker trucks safely and efficiently to transport materials to and from job sites.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and site personnel to schedule deliveries and pickups, adapting to changing priorities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and material handling in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Assist with minor vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness.
