About The Position

The Tank Farm Operator III works the front end counter, selling fuel, lubricants, and accessories at a self-service station. This role also involves the delivery of home heating fuel and diesel to commercial entities. The operator will provide oversight of the fuel station in the Manager’s absence.

Requirements

  • 2 years’ prior tank farm experience.
  • Ability to work in a remote location on a 3-week rotational schedule.
  • Must be able to interpret and disseminate documents such as safety, operations, maintenance, and manuals.
  • Ability to calculate percentages, discounts, commissions, proportions, interests, etc.
  • Interpersonal and excellent communication skill.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to speak in front of a group.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and hotel programs.
  • Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.
  • Hazardous Waste Operations (HazWoper) certification.
  • Person in Charge (PIC) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Open Fuel station including (but not limited to) walk around inspection of tanks and piping, dispenser meter readings, set up register and pumps.
  • Operate register to include manning self-service fuel dispensers, collect monies for purchases, prepare receipts, and document sales.
  • Maintain stock and cleanliness of office.
  • Delivery of fuel products with any NSB or Olgoonik vehicle.
  • Transfer of fuel from bulk tanks to day tanks, fuel trucks and/or other NSB tanks.
  • Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations.
  • Close out the cash register and complete daily reports.
  • Accomplish necessary tasks in a safe and workman like manner as stated in NSB Contract for fuel division in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform monthly inventory counts, including dips, and meter readings.
  • Set up and maintain job site safety equipment and fire extinguishers as required.
  • This is a non-standard work week. Periodic overtime may be required. Must be able to handle call outs on a rotational basis.
