About The Position

As part of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation’s (BNYDC) Workforce Development team, the Talent Coordinator will support the daily operations of the Employment Center and engage directly with job seekers, employers, and community partners. They will assist with sourcing candidates, conducting initial screenings, maintaining accurate CRM records, and supporting hiring and training events. This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is organized, customer-service-oriented, and interested in growing within workforce development and talent acquisition.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills and comfort engaging with the public.
  • Ability to maintain heavy call volume and communicate professionally via phone and email.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems (AirTable preferred) and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
  • 1–2 years of experience in customer service, administrative support, recruitment coordination, community engagement, or related areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but equivalent experience considered.
  • Interest in workforce development, human services, career advising, or talent acquisition.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the posting and editing of vacant roles across job boards such as Wellfound, Indeed, and the Employment Center website.
  • Support sourcing efforts by previewing applicant submissions and shortlisting candidates for Workforce Talent Managers.
  • Perform initial screenings with job seekers for available vacancies, both virtually and in person.
  • Call and email follow up to applicants engaged in the hiring process.
  • Assist with walk-in inquiries and provide clear, accurate information about open roles and Employment Center resources. Strong customer service skills.
  • Provide administrative support to the Hiring & Training team, including interview scheduling, documentation, and file management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry in AirTable, including screening notes, engagement activity, and hiring status updates.
  • Maintain organized and complete candidate records to support reporting and workflow needs.
  • Support all Employment Center hiring and training events, including setup, logistics coordination, participant engagement, and day-of assistance.
