About The Position

The Accounting Clerk is responsible to assist with the accounting of business transactions on a day-to-day, month-to-month basis. He/she verifies, allocates and posts transactions into proper journals and ensures transaction back-up documents are properly maintained. The Accounting Clerk maintains an adequate system of accounting records, a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, and develops/produces periodic financial reports that comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal Accounting Clerk will have at least one year experience in a position of similar responsibility. Position Description The current job opening is a hybrid role that includes part-time Title Clerk duties and part-time Wholesale Vehicle Transaction Posting. This position is designed with growth in mind and offers the opportunity to advance into an Assistant Retail Vehicle Transaction Poster role in the future. The Title Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vehicle title and registration documents for retail and wholesale sales. This role ensures all vehicle paperwork is completed in compliance with state and federal regulations, lender requirements, and dealership policies. The Title Clerk plays a critical role in protecting dealership assets, facilitating customer satisfaction, and maintaining audit‑ready records. The Wholesale Vehicle Transaction Posting Clerk is responsible for accurately posting wholesale vehicle transactions into the dealership management system, including vehicle costs, sales details, fees, and related documentation. Ensures all deals are properly recorded, balanced, and compliant with internal accounting and manufacturer requirements. Works closely with accounting, sales, and management to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of automotive dealership accounting, vehicle automotive title processing
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple deals and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with dealership management systems (DMS) such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Follow a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee vendor management and outsourcing
  • Maintain an orderly accounting system; and maintain control over accounting systems and chart of accounts
  • Make debt payments on a timely basis
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure operations performance
  • Process tag and title work in a timely manner
  • Post all finalized tag bundles
  • Reconcile tag / title schedule monthly
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
