About The Position

The Tactical Operations manager will lead a key area within Global Supply Chain focused on supplier manufacturing operations. You will ensure suppliers can meet contracted capacity, protect vehicle production. This role combines people leadership, supplier crisis management, and process optimization, as well as driving continuous improvement with frequent on-site support at suppliers and manufacturing plants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, program management or supply chain management
  • Strong understanding of shop-floor manufacturing operations and supply chain functions.
  • Excellent communication and command skills are necessary to be successful in this position.
  • Strong leadership skills, managerial courage, organizational skills, strong business acumen and very strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-pressure situations and make timely decisions with limited information.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis, structured problem-solving, and crisis communication.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels, internally and at suppliers.
  • Safety-oriented, with strong people leadership, talent development, and communication skills.
  • High degree of autonomy, flexibility, and significant travel required often at short notice, including some weekends.
  • This assignment requires up to 75% Travel in North America for some periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Support operationally challenged or financially distressed suppliers through on-site engagement and structured recovery plans.
  • Lead and manage projects and processes covering supplier manufacturing operations, capacity, material flow, scheduling, launch execution, and logistics.
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving with suppliers, plants, engineering, purchasing and finance to quickly resolve complex manufacturing and supply chain issues.
  • Assess supplier schedules and their impact on vehicle assembly; develop and drive solutions that minimize production disruptions and premium transportation.
  • Monitor and manage supplier capacity constraints, including business transfers, protection-of-supply strategies, and sufficiency plans.
  • Analyze key metrics and reports to identify risks, drive corrective actions, and improve performance.
  • Utilize data analytics, proactive and predictive tools and technology to identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and eliminate waste.
  • Manage 3rd party resources and effectively deploy them within the supply base.
  • Drive operational excellence while meeting budget targets and financial accountability.
  • Communicate clearly and frequently with all levels of the organization, from production operators to senior leadership and supplier executives.
  • Lead a team of 8-15 direct employees, including workload organization, coaching, talent development, and training new employees.
  • Develop and implement operational plans, standardized work and processes that support Global Supply Chain business strategies and directly impact business results.
