About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking a Junior TDL Test Engineer with computer systems knowledge to join the United States Air Force’s premier Tactical Data Links (TDL) Developmental Test (DT) Team. Position responsibilities can span from assisting a team lead as a team member to leading a project. This position provides support to the 46 Test Squadron/TGBC at Eglin AFB. This is NOT a remote position; however, telework opportunities may be authorized as mission requirements allow. As a Junior TDL Test Engineer, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 0-3 years of applicable technical experience is required. Six years of applicable technical experience may be substituted for the BS degree or four years of applicable technical experience with a technical Associate’s Degree.
  • Ability to execute test scripts, run test procedures, develop block diagrams, and collect data for post-test analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually without continuous direction (proactive).
  • Excellent self-initiative and self-motivation.
  • Superior organization, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of Office applications to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Able to travel to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations, CONUS and OCONUS, up to 25% of the time.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Education or experience in RF signal propagation, transmission, and reception theory, principles, concepts, and application.
  • Some engineering experience from internships, directed studies or regular employment.
  • Good understanding of basic computer networking.
  • Experience using engineering/development applications such as MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, Satellite Tool Kit, Python and C#.
  • Possess a current and active Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as a member of the Air Force’s premiere TDL developmental test team.
  • Assist senior test engineers with planning and conduct of initial and regression developmental testing.
  • Assist senior test engineers with authoring, reviewing and editing program documentation, including test plans, concepts of operations, test cards, data-analysis plans and formal reports.
  • Assist test teams with designing test architectures for systems undergoing testing, to include test assets, support assets, lab requirements and data storage/retrieval schemes.
  • Apply engineering principles to all aspects of support to systems undergoing testing and the analysis of data collected during test events.
  • Assist senior test engineers with developing and presenting briefings to test community personnel and program office leadership on developmental testing/reporting activities associated with systems under test.
  • Meet stringent guidelines as defined by program-office leadership when producing test-related artifacts.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend technical solutions required to meet assigned tasks.
  • Conduct technical research, testing and reporting of emerging technological systems affecting the performance of test programs.
  • Review Technical documentation to gather data on which systems will be designed and supported.
  • Utilize software tools to conduct in-depth data reduction and analysis which will be used to inform leadership of program activities pursuant to established objectives and technical performance criteria.
  • Travel to various sites (25%) to participate in planning, execution, data analysis, report generation, etc., of program-related activities.
  • Attend meetings as necessary to provide briefings, information, and recommendations.
  • Support any additional test activities as assigned by TGBC leadership.
