About The Position

The Tactical Action Officer (TAO) Training Specialist at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is responsible for providing advanced training and assessment on U.S. Navy Aegis Combat Systems. This role involves developing and delivering training programs, customizing curriculum, and evaluating the effectiveness of training activities to ensure operational readiness and technical proficiency among sailors. The position requires a strong background in naval operations and teaching, with a focus on enhancing the capabilities of combat systems in dynamic environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of related experience in a maintenance technician or operator manager role.
  • 2 years of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment.
  • Experience as a qualified TAO/BMDO watch stander with relevant shipboard experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Master/Afloat Training Specialist in support of SCSTC/TACTRAGRU/ATG.
  • Ability to support training with extended periods on feet while instructing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dynamic teaching and training on U.S. Navy Aegis Combat Systems to officer level.
  • Review and analyze Aegis Combat System Engineering Capabilities and U.S. Navy Operational and Tactical doctrine.
  • Conduct assessments of sailors' abilities to comply with maintenance and operational procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides for classroom teaching.
  • Support course reviews and curriculum updates, conducting training gap analysis and providing feedback for course improvement.
  • Document training conducted and generate formal assessments of performance with recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop, test, maintain, and deliver Aegis training programs and related materials.
  • Establish and review course content and objectives, maintaining records of training activities and program effectiveness.
