Assist with set up and operate one or more robotic programmable arc welding machines and related equipment along with manual production welding machines to weld a variety of parts. Work from prints, process or routing sheets. Set up robotic programmable arc welding machines; use rotating positions with multiple fixtures. Load, secure, align, weld and unload workpieces. Edit pre-programmed data in the memory file to ensure the correct welding of parts. Check parts regularly to maintain quality requirements and place parts in a designated location. Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include any of the following. Other duties may be assigned. Mount fixtures, load parts, close clamps, and start a basic robotic welding cycle Interpret weld symbols and place precise welds; repair weld defects if needed Weld in flat and horizontal positions using gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process on carbon and stainless steel Set up components for welding according to specifications Perform basic weld machine maintenance such as straightening torches, changing wire barrels, contact tips, nozzles, diffusers, etc. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models Measure dimensions of work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications Log job information into computer Proper use of measuring equipment (caliper, micrometer, tape measure, etc.) Proper use of basic hand tools Perform inspection to ensure that all welds are free of scale, spatter, or any other weld appearance conditions Perform any other duties as assigned
