About The Position
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tableau Cloud Administrator to manage and support our organization's business intelligence (BI) platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the health, performance, and security of the Tableau Cloud environment, ensuring seamless data accessibility and user management. This role requires a strong understanding of the Tableau platform, data governance best practices, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. We are looking for a skilled Tableau Application Support Engineer to join our data analytics team. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our Tableau platform by providing advanced technical support to end-users and developers. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of the Tableau ecosystem and underlying data structures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience as a Tableau Administrator, including hands-on experience with Tableau Cloud/Server administration.
- Strong understanding of SQL and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
- Familiarity with authentication protocols such as SAML, Active Directory, and MFA.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Nice To Haves
- Tableau Certified Associate or Tableau Server Administrator certification is a plus
Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain the Tableau Cloud (formerly Tableau Online) environment. This includes user management across sites, license monitoring, and site creation using the Tableau Cloud Manager.
- Manage user onboarding/offboarding, define user roles and permissions, and organize users into groups. Configure and manage authentication methods, including single sign-on (SAML) and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Implement and enforce data governance, security, and compliance policies. Create and manage projects to organize content and establish granular permission structures to control access to workbooks and data sources.
- Configure and manage data source connections, extract refresh schedules, and troubleshoot connectivity issues. Plan and deploy Tableau Bridge to ensure data freshness for on-premises data sources when necessary.
- Proactively monitor site health, usage patterns, and performance using built-in administrative views and Admin Insights. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to workbooks, data sources, and system capacity.
- Provide L2/L3 technical support to Tableau users and developers. Collaborate with IT, data engineering, and business stakeholders to align the platform with organizational data strategy and best practices.
- Use scripting tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, tabcmd) to automate routine administrative tasks and improve efficiency. Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and operational guidelines.
