About The Position

CUNY Brooklyn College is seeking a dedicated College Counselor for the Educational Talent Search project, aimed at enhancing college access services for high school students in Brooklyn. The College Counselor will maintain a caseload of students, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and accomplishing program objectives. This role involves preparing required reports for the Talent Search program and working closely with the Project Director to meet annual performance outcomes. The College Counselor will provide academic, career, and financial counseling, assist with the college application process, and support students in successfully graduating high school and transitioning to college. In this position, the College Counselor will assist the ETS Project Director in providing comprehensive academic, career, and postsecondary educational advisement. The counselor's primary objective is to prepare high school students and their families for successful entry into college and the completion of a bachelor's degree. This is a grant-funded position with a five-year cycle, currently in its third year, and continuation in the role will depend on successful grant renewal and the employee's performance. The College Counselor will report directly to the Director of TRiO Programs and will collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Upward Bound Associate Director, part-time coordinators and counselors, instructors, administrative assistants, project tutors, and high school principals and staff.
