About The Position

This position is located in the Public Safety Support Division of the Information Technology Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor.  The position is primarily responsible for overall project management, training and supervision of professional and technical staff within various department lines of business. Incumbents support a range of Information Technology programs including Client Support, Network and Communications Infrastructure, Public Safety Communications and Information Security. Essential job functions include: providing section oversight and technical support to staff who maintain enterprise hardware components and software; evaluating and implementing new and replacement systems; coordinating and directing project management implementations; developing program goals, objectives and budgets; preparing various administrative reports and monitoring maintenance and support contracts.  The employee has frequent contact with other City departments, contractors, vendors, outside agencies, etc., to exchange information or provide technical assistance regarding program activities. The instructions received define program objectives as well as personnel and budgetary limitations.  Work is reviewed by division level managers or Information Technology Assistant Director for program accomplishments; management effectiveness; and adherence to policies, procedures, and directives.

Requirements

  • Skill in the application of existing project management principles within an information technology environment.
  • Skill in supervising.
  • Skill providing employee management, including monitoring day-to-day activities, development of action plans, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Skill in the administration of existing enterprise operating systems and productivity software.
  • Skill in the development and oversight of enterprise level change management policies and procedures.
  • Skill performing budget and reporting activities.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory user and group administration principles.
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging commercial technologies sufficient to recommend and implement solutions to address business needs of a large enterprise workforce.
  • Possession of a valid Driver License (Operator).
  • Skill in management of a Public Safety Communications Support team supporting a medium size or a larger enterprise workforce.
  • Skill in the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of commercial radio communication systems.
  • Skill in the use of computer applications supporting mobile and hand-held radios.
  • Skill in the configuration and support of trunked and P25 radio systems.
  • Skill of troubleshooting tools such as digital analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters and signal generators.
