The Systems Support Engineer I is primarily responsible for working on a team at the Red River Service Desk located in Chantilly, VA. This position will handle technical support requests directly from customers and collaborate with field engineers and extended teams. The engineer is responsible for maintaining user uptime and improving their computing experiences through effective maintenance, problem identification, and resolution activities. Candidates must be energetic, focused, and have good communication skills. They should also have a strong motivation to learn new technologies and follow processes. This position requires dedication, persistence, effective utilization of provided resources, and the ability to deliver superior customer service. This position will report to a technical Team Lead. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include experience with desktop operating systems, Office365 Administration (including Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams), and assisting with inbound client phone calls from the call center to resolve issues. Daily management of a personal queue of assigned support tickets is required, focusing on meeting ticket SLAs to achieve performance targets. The role also involves email administration with basic user management, including configuring new accounts, password resets, and troubleshooting user login, profile, and permission issues. Basic virtualization administration and architecture knowledge, such as rebooting virtual machines and maintaining the hypervisor, is necessary. Additionally, the engineer should have basic domain functionality experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP, as well as high-level experience with Windows and Mac operating systems. Knowledge of backup solutions, troubleshooting Remote Desktop Services and VPN, and core network components is also required. Maintaining standards and documentation on an ongoing basis as products and technologies evolve is essential. After-hours and weekend support may be requested from time to time and compensated accordingly.
