This rotational training program in the Applied Materials Varian Semiconductor Equipment business unit is located in Gloucester, MA. It is designed to attract, assimilate, grow, and retain the most talented engineers entering the industry today. During the first two years of employment, Fusion members go through a series of rotational work assignments. The rotations typically consist of two or three unique engineering assignments. These rotations help program members and managers determine where they will flourish in their full-time position at Applied Materials.

  • Designs, prototypes and develops moderately difficult software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices
  • Designs common software modules and libraries for use across multiple products
  • Troubleshoots a variety of moderately difficult software problems. Designs and implements bug fixes
  • Defines software specifications
  • Suggests and implements improvements to the development and troubleshooting process
  • Develops software documentation
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, project schedule and software troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with Cross-Functional Engineering teams including EE, ME, Systems, and Physics to design and release solutions to high value problems
  • Proficiency and experience in C and C++ is required
  • Graduating with a Bachelor's (or Master's) Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field
  • Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
