About The Position

Iridium is seeking a talented and motivated Systems Security Administrator I to join the Iridium EMSS Operations Support Team. As a Systems Security Administrator I, you’ll assist with the administration and maintenance of compute environments supporting Iridium Government services. In this role, you will focus primarily on supporting configuration, maintenance, data backup and recovery, performance tuning, security upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting across multiple sites and within the government and cloud environment. You will succeed in this role if you can work both independently and collaboratively, effectively manage priorities, and maintain alignment with the cadence of government cybersecurity efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , MIS, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • General experience in the IT and Cyber s ecurity industry
  • Competent with MS office tools, knowledgeable with ticket tracking systems
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively
  • Can cultivate meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team, while being open and responsive to constructive feedback as they guide and mentor you
  • The ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed
  • Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you
  • A motivation to achieve required outcomes and results
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks at once and completing them on time with mostly no errors
  • An eagerness to develop professionally, continuously learn, and share knowledge with others
  • Be able to work in the office at least 3 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
  • Be on call, on occasion, to support Iridium and government operations
  • Be able to travel up to 1 to 2 times per year
  • Be able to lift and carry normal 1 person lift rated equipment (30-50 lbs )
  • Be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant technical certifications ( e.g. CompTIA, RHCSA, MCSA, AWS Cloud Practitioner, etc.)
  • Former military experience with security clearance supporting cyber security
  • Familiarity working on government contracts
  • Previous experience with any of the following: AWS Windows Administration Active Directory Linux Working in a telecommunications environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of compute and security hardware
  • Help with maintaining data center infrastructure equipment including Windows and Linux servers, VM’s, Hypervisor, Netapp , GPS derived timing systems and scanning systems
  • Work collaboratively with others to maintain proper Change Control and Configuration Management processes
  • Analyze and assist to automate procedures that promote rapid response to known issues, both independently and with the team
  • Work collaboratively with others to monitor networks and equipment daily—responding to alerts and providing on-call support—and analyze site events to proactively optimize system and application performance
  • Assist in identifying and reporting fixes for issues or to address network login and application issues
  • Work trouble tickets , create configuration change orders, test corrective actions
