We are searching for mid-level Systems Engineers to join the Multimodal Systems Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. The mission of the department is to analyze, design, develop, and prototype sensor systems and networks for all DoD services and national intelligence and other government agencies. Focus being on the development of systems that can support the warfighter in the near-term. Core mission areas include Application of traditional systems and software engineering techniques for the design and development of complex sensor systems. Application of modeling and simulation methodologies Approaches for Rapid Prototyping as a means of concept assessment, risk reduction, and accelerated capability fielding Utilization of agile development methods including DevSecOps for continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) software pipelines, and application to all facets of complex system development You will : Provide hands-on leadership of project teams Provide technical management / leadership of research and development tasks Mentor entry level engineers in sound engineering practices. Have an active role in the entire sensor development process. Collaborate with engineers within IST, CINO and across ARL to deliver complex sensor systems. This position can be filled at multiple levels depending on education and experience. Minimally requires a Bachelors' degree in and Engineering or Science discipline plus 2 years related experience. Additional education and/or experience required for higher level positions. A Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
