What were looking for:SHAZAM is looking for a Systems Programmer to join our team. In this role, you will assist in the installation, development and support of data processing operating systems and their subsystems that support the range of current and planned ITS Inc. data processing functions. Assists in the support and maintenance of hardware used in ITS Inc.s data processing functions. Assists in the support of internal staff and departments. What you'll do: Provides assistance in development and maintenance of project implementation schedules. Maintains communication with manager and peers regarding progress of projects. Monitors progress of projects to ensure they follow planned implementation schedules.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience as Applications Programmer with general experience throughout data processing operating systems and related support programs or one year system programmer experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience programming with general knowledge of record and program usage, or applicable systems programmer experience.
  • Ability to physically respond in person to the facility within 30-45 minutes of a page to resolve a customer problem 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • Strong analysis skills with varied experience in internal design.
  • Ability to analyze requirements and data to derive a programming solution to fulfill complex customer requirements.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of hardware and operating environment to business requirements, demonstrating an understanding of system limitations and overhead resulting in innovative designs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance in development and maintenance of project implementation schedules.
  • Maintains communication with manager and peers regarding progress of projects.
  • Monitors progress of projects to ensure they follow planned implementation schedules.
  • With supervision assists with the installation of new releases of software and operating systems, maintenance enhancements and new features of these systems as required.
  • With supervision assists with system performance analysis and monitoring, recommendations, and implementation of desired performance improvements.
  • With supervision assists with analyzing and debugging hardware equipment.
  • With supervision assists with recommendations and assists utilizing software tools to prevent or predict hardware failures.
  • With supervision assists with investigations of hardware and software products for the ITS environment and developing recommendations.
  • With supervision, assists in the programming, testing, and documenting changes and additions to the software support programs to provide support for current data processing functions and allows for future enhancements.
  • Responsible for communicating with supervisor and management progress regarding job related training.
  • Communicating pro-actively additional job-related training needs.
  • Assists with on-the-job training and guidance in the provision of available self-study materials as required for an adequately trained staff.
  • Assists with support of and assistance to other ITS departments such as Computer Operations, Data Communications, Application Programming and all other ITS departments.
  • Responsible for carrying a pager on a regular schedule and being available to respond immediately.
  • Physical presence, when necessary, within 30-45 minutes to solve problems impacting internal or external customers.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at such a level as is determined in the employers sole discretion.
