About The Position

The Office of Information Technology Services is looking for an Advanced Server Administrator to join our team. This position is located at the DCF PENSACOLA HQ in Pensacola with the Office of Information Technology Services (OITS) This is a technical position for the Department's Enterprise Windows Active Directory Domain with a focus on Windows Server Operating Systems, and all related Active Directory software. This position is on-call eligible.

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Active Directory and Windows Server operating systems; linux operating systems Knowledge of Systems Administration techniques and practices in an Active Directory Server Environment; Ability to install and configure software packages under; Active Directory and Windows operating systems; Ability to install and configure Windows Server operating system and related hardware and software components; Ability to use Microsoft Office; Knowledge of messaging solutions supported by the Department; Knowledge of Mobile Devices and management for Blackberry and Active Synch services; Knowledge and skill in configuring and upgrading computer systems; Knowledge and skill in hardware and software problem detection, isolation, and resolution; Knowledge and skill using Windows tools, utilities and diagnostic tools; Knowledge of network security concepts and techniques; Knowledge of network services concepts and implementation; Knowledge of TCP/IP concepts and configuration; Knowledge of SQL database server, Understanding of Raid, SAN, and storage solutions; Ability to design and plan infrastructure solutions; Ability to interpret technical information relating to Server programs and Server hardware; Ability to communicate technical information clearly; Strong analytical and problem solving skills; Excellent customer service interaction and a positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Manage, configure, and maintain operating systems and application software for optimal performance of DCF servers.
  • Integrate Windows Active Directory services with other systems.
  • Ensure each system operates with and in compliance of IS standards, functions, and methodologies. Administration and support of system monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for all services related to Active Directory, Security, Messaging, and operating system products.
  • Provide systems support, user provisioning, and maintenance for DCF's systems.
  • Disaster Preparedness. This includes but is not limited to Systems recovery planning, risk avoidance via testing and documentation, following Microsoft best practices, performing environment health checks, and proactively monitoring systems to maintain the quality of services to our customers.
  • Participate in the research, review, evaluation, development and implementation of computer technology to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of both human and machine resources. Includes but is not limited to reducing/avoiding costs, attending product presentations/seminars, attending software/hardware training to learn new skills and keep current with industry trends and practices, providing information to systems staff regarding computer technology developments and their impact on new and existing application systems, etc.
  • Perform research and evaluation of hardware and software products related to Linux server, Microsoft server and Microsoft desktop operating systems. Produce documentation and distribute findings as needed systems staff regarding computer technology developments and their impact on new and existing application systems.
  • Provide services related to DCF Resource Security and Access Control. This includes Active Directory access control, messaging hygiene, and remote access user management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
