About The Position

Enhances the quality of life for Credit Union members/team members by meeting or exceeding their service expectations. Responsible for internal development and design of new applications and process automation in accordance with industry standard best practices, while mentoring junior programmer(s) through this process to help in their development of skills and knowledge. Identifies and anticipates future issues by leveraging their extensive programming knowledge and doing research on industry and programming trends. Tests and implements programming code following the Credit Union's software development life cycle. Organizes and runs user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring the smoothest possible implementation of applications and automation. Works closely with management to prioritize and run several different projects, by utilizing various tools, and providing project status updates, organizing, and running project meetings and coordinating with multiple departments and business units to keep projects moving forward in the most beneficial order for the Credit Union and its members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field obtained through a formal 4- year program at an accredited educational facility preferred or equivalent experience
  • 5-8 years of Information Systems experience in financial institution preferred.
  • Experience with the following languages: .NET/C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PowerOn and SQL is preferred.
  • Experience with JavaScript, SOAP, and REST APIs.
  • Experience with the following systems is preferred: SSRS, SSIS, Episys, SymXchange.
  • Experience with database design and development, preferably MSSQL is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop New Applications and Automation – Designs and develops new applications, databases, and automation, by following industry best practices, in conjunction with Credit Union procedure and policy. Participates and organizes project meetings, while communicating courteously and professionally with staff, as this person gathers information on build requirements, provides helpful recommendations, clearly communicates scope, and technical limitations, while also providing regular status updates to a project team or requestor. Anticipates and addresses possible development hurdles, utilizing one's knowledge of software development life cycle, programming best practices, and institutional requirements, to prevent possible disruptions to project timelines. Actively participates in the mentorship of junior programming staff, helping them learn industry best practices, and Credit Union procedure and policy, as they work to design and develop their own applications and automation. Identifies inefficiencies in internal procedure and processes, making recommendations to management on possible changes and opportunities for improved efficiency or accuracy.
  • Tests and Implements Code – Debugs and tests Credit Union code, utilizing both exceptional problem-solving skills in conjunction with various forms of debugging tools, to reduce and mitigate rough and problematic implementations. Organizes and conducts User Acceptance Testing (UAT), through writing of UAT scripts, organizing and attending UAT meetings, providing succinct and clear instructions to non-technical staff, and answering various questions for the team. Conducts and participates in code review with programming staff, while taking a lead role by reviewing code and proposed changes, making recommendations for improvement, and identifying and communicating any possible oversights or bad practices.
  • Project Management and Multi-tasking – Works closely with management to coordinate and prioritize a variety of competing interests and projects, ensuring the best possible outcome for the Credit Union and its members. Discuss and develop project plan with key stakeholders. Assemble and lead project team in accordance with Credit Union policy and procedure. Lead project team, communicate deadlines, requirements, changes, and progress. Provide high level updates to key stakeholders and senior management.
