About The Position

The Systems Mechanic performs advanced installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, water treatment, humidification, mechanical utilities, and domestic hot water systems. This role supports safe, efficient facility operations while delivering excellent service to patients, staff, and clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Strong problem solving and common sense reasoning skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use building automation systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Zero to two years of experience in utility systems, mechanical systems, or HVAC installation and maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a friendly, efficient Spirit of Service attitude toward customers, co workers, and clients.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC, water treatment, humidification, steam, and domestic hot water systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical utility systems including fans, pumps, compressors, valves, steam traps, strainers, and related equipment.
  • Utilizes computerized Emergency Management and Building Automation Systems to monitor and maintain system performance.
  • Conducts routine inspections and repairs or replaces system components including valves, gauges, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, coils, tube bundles, piping, heat exchangers, belts, filters, and bearings.
  • Performs plumbing and pipe fitting as required to maintain utility systems.
  • Repairs mechanical infrastructure including pumps, valves, and medical gas systems.
  • Fabricates and repairs mechanical assemblies using brazing, oxy acetylene welding, arc welding, and sheet metal techniques.
  • Reads and interprets mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Assists with training and orientation of lower level technicians as assigned.
  • Estimates labor and material costs for maintenance and repair projects.
  • Adheres to all safety programs, OSHA regulations, and federal, state, and local compliance requirements.
  • Maintains required documentation to meet ARAMARK, client, government, and accrediting agency standards.
  • Demonstrates awareness of patient and resident population needs and age specific considerations.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
