About our group: The Systems Automation team’s objective is to develop and deploy automation capabilities for Seagate’s Systems Firmware and Test groups. Our focus is on automated test development, test infrastructure, and lab support. About the role - you will: Provide lab support for the Firmware and Systems Integration Engineering organization. The lab is based in Longmont, Colorado. Bring on-line and maintain, in operational order, development storage array systems to support new product development (both test pipelines and equipment used by firmware developers and the SIE test team) Troubleshoot, repair and upgrade storage and networking devices (servers, storage array systems, networking switches, etc.) Work to resolve equipment issues in a timely manner Maintain IT security requirements for all supported systems Utilize JIRA (work-tracking software system) to track work on a Lab Kanban board Perform Lab Management responsibilities to maintain and organize a clean and efficient lab Inventory/track/ship lab equipment Utilize your organizational and communication skills to actively coordinate with IT and Facilities (and other related Seagate teams) on physical Lab improvements, Security, and compliance initiatives. About you: Thrive in a dynamic lab environment where incoming work requests can be fast paced and unpredictable Understanding of hardware and software interactions; able to apply this understanding to resolve issues Strong communication skills and willingness to work independently with different engineering teams to help drive lab issues to closure

  • Working in a hardware lab or server room environment
  • Provisioning and troubleshooting Linux and Windows Server operating systems
  • Provisioning and troubleshooting storage and networking devices
  • Fundamental understanding of computer architecture and components (knowledge of storage systems or hard drive technology a plus)
  • Ability to diagnose the root cause of computer system failures and isolate the components/failure nodes
  • Scripting/automation skills (including Python, Perl, BASH, etc.)
  • Experience with virtualization & containerization technologies (Docker, oVirt, VMWare, etc.)
