Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech The Systems Integration Engineer for Operations will apply a broad variety of engineering subject areas to integrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the exceptionally complex Johnson & Johnson OTTAVA Robotic System within the R&D organization. This is a role that lies at the intersection of hardware, software, robotics, and clinical engineering. This individual will have the opportunity to train and observe clinicians, key opinion leaders, and high-profile visitors interacting with the OTTAVA System. They will provide individual contributions and organizational management of the team's responsibilities. This team will operate the system during clinical labs, troubleshoot and resolve known issues, document novel issues that arise during system use, perform SW installation and smoke testing, and provide complex engineering test support for R&D applications. Applicants should have experience working with complex electromechanical systems but need not have a technical background in robotics. This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone with an interest in medical robotics to gain deep technical and industry knowledge, while providing a critical service to the OTTAVA program.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering or other applicable technical degree with 3+ years of related experience or MS Engineering or other applicable technical degree with 2+ years of related experience.
  • Fundamental understanding across software, controls, robotics, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
  • Depth in one or more of the above subject areas, with ability to quickly come up to speed in new technical areas.
  • Experience partitioning and decomposing sophisticated engineering problems into solvable problems.
  • Understanding of engineering concepts such as system architecture, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Proven understanding of programming concepts and ability to modify existing code (C++, python, etc.).
  • Excellent self-starter with a can-do demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience with electromechanical or robotic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Technical expert for setting up, operating, maintaining, and debugging the system in clinical labs.
  • Document issues that arise in clinical labs, and resolve by working across hardware, electrical, and software teams.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues that commonly arise across the R&D system fleet.
  • Identify, root cause, and resolve novel issues that arise across the R&D systems by working across mechanical, electrical, software, robotic controls, and clinical teams
  • Work with software engineers to understand and modify existing code.
  • Work with mechanical or electrical engineers to upgrade hardware components.
  • Maintain the configuration and records of all systems used for development and verification.
