About The Position

The Systems Integration Internship is a two-year program that provides recent college graduates with an interest in the water industry to work within the Technical Services Group Systems Integration Department while participating in professional development workshops, career development programs and other networking opportunities. Systems Integration Interns will work with a variety of professionals to learn why the Sewer District is one of the leaders in wastewater treatment. Systems Integration Interns assist with the planning, design, and deployment of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) related system solutions to best enhance the Sewer District’s capabilities to manage the lifecycle of assets, as well as maintaining the integrity, and aiding in the development of, the organizational structure and linking of asset related records in information management systems and providing data input to the CMMS as needed. Assists with the establishment of asset record management policies, procedures, and information systems. Performs field inspections as needed to collect data, observe various field conditions and construction and operational activities. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled in school or must have graduated within 24 months from the date of application.
  • Declared Majors: Information Services, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field of study
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s Degree
  • Candidate must be able to commit to a fixed-term assignment of 24 months with an option to extend at NEORSD’s discretion.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record in accordance with the District's acceptable guidelines.
  • Candidate must demonstrate strategic thinking, operational discipline, collaboration and agility to be an industry leader while maintaining a commitment to personal integrity.
  • Candidate must possess effective written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and decision-making abilities.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • New hires are required to have protective footwear, meeting the following criteria, on the first day of employment: 1) Must be ANSI 241-1999 or ASTM F-2412/2413 (2005) certified, 2) Must have a steel or composite protective toe, 3) Must be, at a minimum, a 6" work boot or 6" hiker-style boot (Note: shoes are not permitted), 4) Must have a slip-resistant sole.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in wastewater treatment and stormwater management preferred.
  • It is also recommended, but not required, that footwear be waterproof and have included a shank to protect the bottom of the foot.

Responsibilities

  • Performs document and content management activities, such as loading documents into appropriate information management systems in accordance with established procedures. Assists with the review of current information management processes for improved efficiency.
  • Performs entry-level analysis work, utilizing problem-solving skills to evaluate Asset Management Standard Procedures, including controls and system enhanced capabilities.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve CMMS/GIS capabilities and utilization to better enhance Sewer District Asset Management principles and processes.
  • Assists with implementation of improved methods in the tracking of maintenance, repair and replacement program data
  • Assists with evaluation that accurate levels of data integrity associated with Asset Management principles are correctly and consistently captured.
  • Assists with the review of technical deliverables including design drawings and specifications, technical memoranda and project data
  • Utilizes Excel, SharePoint and Geographic Information System (GIS) to assist with data evaluation and management.
  • Assists in the identification of problems, research, evaluation of possible solutions/alternatives, and data analysis.
  • Performs field observations and investigations as needed to collect data, observe various field conditions and construction & operational activities.
  • Professional Development Actively participate in all assigned early talent events, including but not limited to professional development workshops, networking sessions, and industry exposure activities.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as required
